What's included
Elopements and micro weddings are, in my experience, often the most purely enjoyable days to photograph. The group is small enough that everyone relaxes quickly. There's no schedule pressure, no vendor coordination, no table plan drama. It's just the two of you and the people who matter most, doing exactly what you feel like doing.
For Melbourne elopements, I'd strongly encourage you to think about the city itself as your venue. The CBD, the inner north, the laneways and rooftops and restaurant courtyards of Fitzroy and Collingwood — these are genuinely extraordinary backdrops for intimate ceremonies, and they tend to produce photographs that are a lot more interesting than a park at golden hour. That said, I'll follow you wherever you want to go.
The Melbourne Registry Office on Lonsdale Street is a particular favourite of mine for ceremonies. The Thomas Hyde Room has a warmth and intimacy that surprises people who expect a civil ceremony to feel formal. And with four guests and a photographer in the room, there's nowhere for the important moments to hide.
Bookings start at 90 minutes and go up to 5 hours — enough to cover a ceremony at the Registry Office, a short portraits session around the city, and a celebratory drink or two before dinner. For couples planning something a little longer, I can extend to cover your reception entry or a private dining room booking.
What to expect
We all want to be captured at our very best, especially during a once in a lifetime occasion such as your wedding. But surely your wedding photography can be about more than just the two of you in peak main character mode?
My goal is to produce a body of work that aligns with your own memories of the day, work that resonates with your every recollection. In years from now I want you to be able to see a photo of you embracing your father and be able to smell his cologne ; I want you to be able to hold a photograph of your grandmother smiling proudly and be able to hear her laughter once again. In short, I want to provide you with work that only increases in complexity, meaning and value as time marches on. Essentially this is the difference between good and great photography.

$4500 for 8 hr coverage,

Eight hours is the standard booking for a Melbourne wedding, and it's a format I've landed on after years of working out what actually matters. Generally that means I'll arrive during preparations — which is almost always where some of the best photographs of the day are made — and finish a couple of hours into the reception, once the dance floor is pumping but before things get too messy.
What falls in between depends entirely on your day. Ceremony location, the gap between ceremony and reception, how many formal family photographs you want, whether you'd like time together as a couple for portraits — all of this shapes the timeline, and it's something we'll work through together in detail before the wedding. I'm not precious about any of it. My job is to fit around your day, not the other way around.
A few things I'm specifically good at: low light photography in Melbourne's darker venues and inner-city restaurants; genuine, unposed portraits for couples who are nervous about the camera; and fast, painfree family formal photographs so you can get back to your guests quickly. I've shot weddings at The Wool Mill, Neighbourhood Wine, Noisy Ritual, Cutler & Co, Longsong, and dozens of other Melbourne venues — and at each of them, my approach is the same.
What to expect
Weddings are monumental undertakings, comprising so many moving parts. You may be in the initial stages of planning your wedding and currently discovering this for yourself! Remember - there are no rules, no right or wrong way to go about getting married. Its your day, and ideally, you'll only do it once - make it count!

01. Make an inquiry
We will schedule an introductory meeting to get to know each other a little better and discuss your expectations. For shoots I ask for a $75 retainer, for weddings I ask for a 50% retainer to secure your date.
02. Booking & payment
About three weeks before the wedding or our session, you will receive a comprehensive guide from me in your mailbox. In this guide you will find all kinds of tips and tricks to make our photo session go smoothly.
03. Tips & advice for the big day
The day has arrived and everyone is super excited including me! I will not only be your photographer, I'll also be your personal cheerleader. Any initial nerves will quickly disappear - I promise!
04. The big day is here!
I edit all images very carefully. Within 3 to 4 weeks from the session date or wedding, you will receive a password protected online gallery where you can see and download the images. For weddings you will receive a preview in your online gallery within 5 days.
05. Editing & delivery
If you simply can't choose favorite images, you can always upgrade your package to more images. Please get in touch for the rates of the upgrade packages!

The process
For sessions, I recommend booking at least 2 - 3 months in advance. For weddings it's best to book ASAP! I always say the earlier the better so that I can guarantee your wedding date is still available.
When is the best time to book?
I do not send unedited images. The images you receive from your shoot will be edited in my unique style. I take my time on all images and consider them my work of art. Please take this into consideration before booking!
Will we receive unedited images as well?
Within 3 to 4 weeks you will receive the photos through your own password protected online gallery. For weddings, you will receive a detailed preview within 5 business days.
When will we receive the images?
I ask for a $75 (session) or 50% (wedding / elopement) retainer to confirm your photo shoot or date. Once I have received the retainer payment, your date is secured!
