For the two of you, and nobody else

Eloping isn't running away from a wedding — it's running towards the day you want, unencumbered by seating charts,  guest list politics or the sheer exhaustion of it all.

Whether that's a quiet Registry Office ceremony followed by drinks in a Flinders Lane bar, or a sunrise vow exchange somewhere in the Yarra Valley with nobody else around, I photograph it the same way I've photographed every wedding for the last 15 years: as it actually happens, not as it's staged to look for a camera.

I'm Cam, and Anchor + Hope has photographed elopements across Melbourne and Victoria for couples who wanted the day to feel like them — intimate, unposed, and genuinely their own.

I know the locations, and the permits that come with them.
From Melbourne's Registry Office and CBD laneways to Fitzroy Gardens, the Yarra Valley, and further out to the Mornington Peninsula and regional Victoria, I can help you pick a location that suits the two of you — and I know which spots need a council permit and which don't, so there are no surprises on the day.

Documentary style, not posed.
You won't spend your elopement being directed into stock poses. I photograph the real moments — nervous laughter, a shared look, the walk back to the car after you've said "I do" — the way they actually unfolded.

Genuinely experienced with small, intimate days.
Elopements aren't a smaller version of a wedding I'd rather be shooting — they're a specialty. Over 500 weddings in, some of my favourite work has come from days with two people and a celebrant.

Why couples choose Anchor + Hope for their elopement

Not sure where to elope yet? I've put together a full guide covering nine of the best spots across Melbourne — from the Royal Botanic Gardens to Point Nepean — including permit requirements and the best time of day to shoot each one.

FAQS

How do we legally elope in Melbourne?
You'll need to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage with a registered celebrant at least one month before your ceremony. Most Melbourne celebrants can walk you through the full process.

Do we need a permit for our location?
Depends where — some public parks and gardens (Royal Botanic Gardens, Fitzroy Gardens, Williamstown, St Kilda Pier, Albert Park Lake, Point Nepean) require a permit for the ceremony itself, though not always for photography. I can help you figure out what your specific location needs.

How far will you travel? Regularly across Melbourne, the Yarra Valley, and Mornington Peninsula — happy to discuss further regional locations too.

When will we get our photos? Preview gallery within 48 hours, full gallery within 14 days.

CONTACT

We had an initial engagement shoot with Cam as we felt uncomfortable in front of the camera but he quickly made us at ease. After a few years, Cam also photographed our wedding, he was brilliant on the day, very professional and fit right in. He has produced an incredible album of photographs for us that we will treasure forever.

"Incredible. Cam made the whole process easy, communication was always fluid and easy-going."

SAMANTHA + JON

"We can not speak highly enough of Cam and the magic he brings to capturing stunningly authentic photos to encapsulate pure joy and everything in between on your wedding day.!"

He was our first choice and we were so lucky he was available as we could not have had a better photographer to be part of the day. He was such a calm, genuine and kind energy from start to finish and its been so hard to pick a handful of favourite photos, they're honestly all brilliant!
